Using a cell phone not equipped as hands-free while driving is a primary offense and you WILL be stopped and cited for it. This includes holding the phone for any reason, including while using speaker phone, or texting. Arrive alive, don’t text and drive!
** The Star City Police department is currently accepting applications for the Probationary Police Officer position. Applications may be picked up/dropped off at the town hall during normal business hours Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm with a deadline date of January 19th at 4:30pm. All applicants must submit an employment physical at the time of their submission of application.
On January 27th 2018 the Civil Service Commission for the Star City Police department will conduct a physical agility test in which the applicants must pass the following standards to move on to the written portion of the testing;
18 pushups in one minute
28 sit ups in one minute
1.5 mile run in 14 minutes and 36 seconds or less. Failing any portion of this test will eliminate the candidate from proceeding further.
After the physical agility test is complete, the applicants will take a written test administered by the Civil Service Commission. The passing applicants will then be placed on a list in order of the combined score of the agility and written tests.
The starting wages for a Probationary Police Officer is $14.09 per hour without academy certification and $16.08 with the academy certification, plus paid health insurance.
